Week 1 Update
1). Birthday Treats
As the year progresses, many students have birthdays. I recognize that some students enjoy bringing birthday treats to school to share with that class. While this is not required, it is totally allowed! If a student chooses not to bring a birthday treat, we will still celebrate their birthday in class. If they have a summer birthday, I celebrate all of these students at the end of the school year. Should you choose to send a birthday treat, you can send it with your student to school any day of the week that is most convenient for you. As was stated at our back to school presentation, Spanish Oaks Elementary is trying to make a change from bringing treats to school and instead doing non edible things, such as pencils, erasers, little party favors, etc. We have many students in our school with unique health needs and this helps us better meet them. However, should you wish to send food to school as a birthday treat (which is still permitted), I wanted to give you some information about our class! We have 21 students in our class. We do not have any peanut allergies, but we do have a gluten allergy in our class. If you have any questions or concerns about birthday treats, please let name know!
2). Back to school night forms
If you have any forms that were sent home at back to school night (or the first day of school, if you missed back to school night), please send these back to school as soon as possible. These include field trip forms, t-shirt size forms, reading calendar forms, and instagram permission slips. Let me know if you need another form or did not receive any of these. I will email later in the week letting you know which forms, if any, I am still missing from you. If I am missing any, I will also send another copy home with your student. Thank you for your help with this!
3). Reading Calendars
If you opted for a paper reading calendar for the month of August, those are due back to me on Friday (September 1st). If you selected using the google form to track your minutes, I will email that to you on Thursday.
4). Homework
Homework will begin next Tuesday (September 5th). It will be due back on the following Monday. Thanks for supporting our students and their learning at home through this practice!
